About

What is this?

The late great Kurt Vonnegut wrote, “We are here on Earth to fart around, and don’t let anybody tell you different.”

I have no intention of contradicting the great scribe and his words about my purpose in life.

So: this is me, farting around.

Truth told, I miss the salad days of blogging and newsletters. Plus I really missed writing for the hell of it.

So here we are, evoking—as a friend once told me—the old internet vibes.

What should I expect?

A newsletter will be fired out at least twice a month in 2025. Things appear to have largely coalesced around personal essays—either about music, my life, or opinions—as well as some fiction I’m working on. I’ve been hacking away at a novel for a while and intend to inflict it upon the world soon.

I’ll probably plug my band from time to time, but I promise to try and keep that to a tasteful minimum.

There will also be a plethora—a plethora, Jefe—of em dashes.

We’ll see where this goes, eh?

Wait… who are you?

Short version: I co-founded Aloud in Boston back in 2002 with Jen, my special lady friend. I’m also a video editor, because we have bills to pay. My family fled Cuba in the early 60s. I was born, raised, and out of place in Miami. I became a human being in Boston, where I lived for most of my adult life; I tell people I’m from there. I’ve lived in L.A. since 2017.

The long version may be found here.
